On Wednesday's American Idol, Atomic Effect client Sons of Sylvia performed their lead single, “Love Left To Lose,” co-written by their second cousin, OneRepublic singer, and overall pop hit-maker Ryan Tedder. Tedder and Clark, who lived together back in 2001-2003 when Tedder was making a living creating demos for other artists, co-wrote the anthemic rock pop single last year. “We met up in Los Angeles. We were just laughing,” Clark says. “He couldn’t believe we were on the same label. We were like ‘This is insane!’ We wrote the song in like an hour.” They had talked about writing more but Tedder’s schedule didn’t allow it. He was busy writing songs for Kelly Clarkson, Adam Lambert, and Sugababes, among others, while also releasing his band’s second album. “It’s so cool to see how much he’s accomplished,” Clark says, who also recalled Tedder writing his #1 hit “Apologize” upstairs while they were living together. “It’s just come full circle. We’re both on the same label, he wrote our first single. It’s magical.”

Along with the Tedder-written track, the band also collaborated with Jack Joseph Puig, who has produced tracks for Green Day, No Doubt, and Sheryl Crow, Mike Shimshack, Jeff Trott, and more for the genre-bending album which has touches of pop, southern rock, country, and bluegrass sounds across its10 tracks.
